Global recognition for Events Management sustainability education project

One of the University’s LIFT: Learning Innovation for Tomorrow projects has been recognised by the United Nations University’s international network of centres of expertise in sustainability education.

“Festival Experiences for the Global Goals: The pop-up sustainability village”, a project led by Clair Greenaway and the Events Management course team was awarded ‘outstanding flagship project’ for its role in learning and community engagement for sustainable development.

The project formed an assessed activity in ‘Event Design and Production’ and students worked in teams to develop and deliver 7  themed pop-up activities for families at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival.

Each pop-up activity addressed 1 of the 17 Global Sustainable Development Goals to provide an integrated journey through sustainability ideas and practice, using fun activities such as arts and crafts, mini golf, planting, an immersive ocean plastics experience and treasure trail.

This is the second win for the project which also took ‘Student Event of the Year’ at the National Outdoor Events Association Awards.
