The collaborative project ‘Empowering ChangeMakers’ by Cheltenham Education Partnership, University of Gloucestershire sustainability team and School of Education is a finalist in the Green Gown Awards 2022, recognising the transformative impact of this learning experience.
This project culminated in an inspirational summit held at Park campus in June for over 130 students and teachers from 10 local secondary schools. With the University’s expertise and pioneering agenda in Education for Sustainability, the event also afforded trainee teachers from the University’s School of Education hands-on experience with this leading approach to teaching.
One of the student attendees commented, “It’s important to learn about sustainability from a young age because then as you grow up, you can teach it to other people, and also you can make change from a young age and then continue to do that, then this becomes a habit.”
The Green Gown Awards recognise sustainability excellence in further and higher education institutions across a range of categories and are increasingly competitive each year. Shortlisting in this category follows our Highly Commended achievement in the same category last year for the sustainability team’s Radical Sustainability programme.
The final results of this years’ Green Gown Awards UK & Ireland, in association with UKRI, will be announced at a celebration and awards ceremony in November 2022. Find out more about the awards and see all finalists on the Green Gown Awards website.
