{"id":32289,"date":"2019-07-12T15:50:43","date_gmt":"2019-07-12T14:50:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sustainability.glos.ac.uk\/?p=32289"},"modified":"2022-07-04T12:14:03","modified_gmt":"2022-07-04T11:14:03","slug":"3-finalist-entries-in-the-uk-green-gown-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sustainability.glos.ac.uk\/3-finalist-entries-in-the-uk-green-gown-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Three Finalist entries in the UK Green Gown Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n[et_pb_section fb_built=&#8221;1&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.6.3&#8243; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; module_id=&#8221;main&#8221; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;3.26&#8243;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;3.26&#8243;][et_pb_post_title author=&#8221;off&#8221; comments=&#8221;off&#8221; featured_image=&#8221;off&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;3.26&#8243; title_text_color=&#8221;#3E77C0&#8243;][\/et_pb_post_title][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=&#8221;3_5,2_5&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;3.26&#8243;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;3_5&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;3.26&#8243;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;3.27.4&#8243;]<p>The University has been shortlisted into the finals in all 3 categories it entered for the 2019 UK Green Gown Awards.<\/p>\n<p>The awards recognise sustainability excellence in further and higher education institutions across a range of categories and are increasingly competitive each year.<\/p>\n<p>The University\u2019s finalist entries this year are:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sustainability Institution of the Year<\/strong> \u2013 showcasing our pioneering long term change process and achievements in all areas of university life, including our leadership approach, our academic innovations, practical results in core operations and new collaborations with partners locally, nationally and globally.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Research with Impact<\/strong> \u2013 for research led by Professor Adam Hart and Professor Anne Goodenough to develop and implement low cost thermal imaging to reduce rhino poaching, creating results to support the UN global goals around life on land as well as governance, partnerships, consumption and education.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Total Reporting<\/strong> \u2013 for the balanced approach of our <a href=\"https:\/\/sustainability.glos.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/UOG-ASR-2017-2018-FINAL-1.pdf\" target=\"blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Annual Sustainability Report 2017-18<\/a> that showcases the range and diversity of our sustainability programme, from new student experiences, to progress on our environmental management objectives, to the latest curriculum changes and research developments across our academic schools.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Alex Ryan, Director of Sustainability, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>\u201cCongratulations to our brilliant staff, students and partners for the success stories at the awards this year \u2013 it is terrific to be recognised for whole-institution change and to make the finals for the first time on research impact.
