University into the Green Gown finals

The University has been shortlisted for both its submissions to this year’s UK Green Gown Awards. The awards recognise sustainability excellence in further and higher education institutions across a range of categories and are increasingly competitive each year. This year we entered two categories to showcase how we are keeping up the innovation and achievements right across the University under our new Sustainability Strategy 2017-2022: Outstanding Leadership Team of the Year (sponsored by Interface) – this not just about the work of sustainability teams but shows how people right across the University, including our students, are key to our results. We’re up against Edinburgh and Keele for this new high profile category Total Reporting (sponsored by PWC) – for the balanced approach of our Annual Sustainability Report 16-17 showcasing our sustainability work from education and employability to policy, operations and partnerships. Here we’re up against LSE, Manchester Metropolitan, Leeds and Worcester. Dr Alex Ryan, Director of Sustainability, said: “Congratulations and thanks to everyone who has played their part in the stories that earned us our place in the finals – there are far too many of you to name!” The results will be announced in November.
